St. Johns County is located in the northeastern part of Florida. The county seat is the city of St. Augustine. R.J. Larizza is the State Attorney for Florida's Seventh Judicial Circuit serving Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns and Volusia counties. Larizza was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and attended Bishop Kenny High School. He received a BS degree in Criminal Justice and subsequently began working for the Florida Department of Corrections. Larizza stayed at that position for 13 years and in 1993 he decided to leave and enter law school at the age of 35. He graduated in the top third of his class from Mercer University’s Walter F. George, School of Law in Macon, Georgia.
While a student, Larizza worked at the Houston County District Attorney's Office in Perry Georgia as a law clerk. Additionally, Larizza served on the Law Review for Mercer University and the Moot Court Board. Once he had graduated, Larizza worked as an Assistant Sate Attorney for the Seventh Judicial Circuit and remained there for nearly seven years. He then left to pursue a career in private practice only to later return to run and be elected as State Attorney.
