Named after the Native Americans that once inhabited the land, Pima County is located in southern Arizona, bordering Mexico. When compared with Maricopa, Pima’s population is relatively smaller, consisting of fewer than one million people. The population center of Pima is Tucson, the state’s second largest city. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median household income for Pima between 2008 and 2012 was $36,939 in stark contrast to the state’s average of $50,256. From the same census date it was found that the percentage of peoples living below the poverty level was 24.4%. The Pima County Sheriff Department’s website states that since 2007, they have apprehended “more than 400 criminals involved in drug, vehicle, and human-trafficking related crimes.”

Pima County focuses on "green" initiatives such as Solar One Stop, Green Building Program, and Pima County/City of Tucson Net-Zero Energy Building Standard. Pima County also has a strong mining industry - predominantly copper. Pima County is also home to the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base with over 9,200 employees. High tech and service industries are top leading industries in Pima County. For employment in any of these fields, it is important to have a clear criminal record. Expunging an offense from a criminal record is the only way to help ensure that future employers do not have access to your offense, and if your criminal record does show your offense, that the conviction will show that the judgment has been overturned by the court of law.
Even though having your record expunged, sealed, or set aside can greatly increase your ability to find a job, other factors can benefit your job search as well. We have prepared a short video, getting employed with a criminal record, that provides such tips and advice.
