R. Seth Williams is the 2014 District County for Philadelphia County. Williams holds the distinguished honor of being the first African American District Attorney in the entire commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Williams was given into foster care by his unwed mother, but was fortunately adopted by a loving couple who raised this Philadelphian with a true sense of community service. Williams graduated from Penn State University where he served as the President of the Black Caucus and also as the President of the Undergraduate Student Government. Williams then went on to graduate from the prestigious Georgetown University with distinction as a Public Interest Law Scholar.

After graduating form law school, Williams started his career working for the District Attorney's office as the Assistant District Attorney in 1992. During his 10 years working for the District Attorney's office, Williams was continuously promoted. He served as the Assistant Chief of the Municipal Court, created and spearheaded the Repeat Offenders Unit, and was appointed the position of Inspector General of the City of Philadelphia. From 2008 to 2009, Williams served as counsel at the Center City law firm of Stradley, Ronon, Stevens &Young. In 2009 Williams assumed his position as District Attorney of Philadelphia County. Williams is also an adjunct professor at Neumann College in the Strategic Leadership Master’s Program and is an adjunct professor and Advisory Board member at Penn State Abington.
