Between 2008 and 2012, residents of Hillsborough County had a per capita income of $26,947 and a median household income of $49,450. Demographically, Hillsborough is comprised of 53% Caucasian, 25.6% Hispanic or Latino, 17.4% African American, and 3.8% Asian residents. According to Tampa’s official website, the city’s police department has greatly exceeded state and national averages for reducing crime between 2002 and 2010.
Mark Ober is the state attorney serving Florida's 13th Judicial Court in Hillsborough County. Mark earned his Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Florida and went on to complete law school at South Texas College of Law. Mark passed the Florida Bar in 1977 and started working as an assistant state attorney. During this time, Mark had the titles of Felony Bureau Chief, Chief of the Major Crimes Division, Chief of Career Criminal Division, and Chief of the Homicide Divisions. From 1987 to 2000, Mark worked in private practice and specialized in criminal defense. Mark was elected State Attorney by the highest margin in a decade and has served in over 250 criminal trials.
