District Attorney: Ken Magidson
Devon Anderson serves as the district attorney of Harris County, Texas. Governor Rick Perry appointed her to the position in 2013. Anderson succeeded her husband, Mike Anderson, after having passed away from cancer. Devon was born and raised in Waco Texas and earned her undergraduate and law degree from the University of Texas Devon Anderson has much experience in law and served for 12 years as a prosecutor in Harris County's DA office and convicted some high profile criminals, such as the serial killer Angel Maturino Resendiz. Anderson went on to become the Chief Felony prosecutor for five years and handled over 100 felony jury trials.
In 2005, Devon left the DA's office to serve as the Judge of the 177th Criminal District Court. She handled over 50 cases per year. Amongst this were felony cases involving murder, capital murder, child abuse, arson, kidnapping, drug crimes, and property crimes. By 2009, Devon had decided to step down and open a criminal defense firm focused on state and federal offenses and operated it until her husband was elected as DA in late 2012. During that time, Devon also graduated from the Career Prosecutors Course at the National College of District Attorney and after completing it had returned to advise. She also has taught legal classes for the Texas District and County Attorney's Association and the State Bar of Texas. Devon Anderson hopes to carry on what her husband began at the Harris County DA's Office.

Harris County became a player in the industrial boom in 1911 when voters approved for the creation of the Harris County Ship Channel Navigation District. This ship channel attracted many industrial businesses and created a surge in population.
The three largest industries in Harris County are energy, health care, and the chemical industry.
