Carol O'Brien is the current Prosecuting Attorney of Delaware County, Ohio. She earned her law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1983 and has been practicing law for more than 30 years. Upon finishing law school, O'Brien began working at Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE). From there she went on to serve as an Assistant Ohio Attorney General, Chief Counsel of the Ohio Organized Crime Commission and Principal Attorney for the Corrections Litigation Section in which she represented State Corrections Officials in litigations on the State and Federal level.
As Prosecutor of Delaware County, O'Brien has successfully prosecuted cases of rape, drug trafficking, murder, and several other felony crimes. She also serves as a Special Prosecutor in several counties throughout the state in which she has prosecuted cases of organized crime, drug trafficking, violent crimes, economic crimes, and public corruption. O'Brien is licensed to practice law in Ohio and South Carolina. Among Carol O'Brien's successful cases, one standout case involved the defense of the Warden and correctional officers from the Mansfield Correctional Institution for a lawsuit filed by the leader of the Lucasville Riots, Jason Robb.
O'Brien is married and has three children, one of which serves in the U.S. Air Force and has completed two tours of duty in Iraq.
