Bucks County was founded in 1682 and has an estimated population of 625,249. The county seat is Doylestown and the most populated city is Bensalem. Bucks County is named for the English County of Buckinghamshire – abbreviated to Bucks, which was the hometown of William Penn, the Quaker diplomat and real estate entrepreneur for whom Pennsylvania was named. Director and screenwriter M. Night Shyamalan has filmed many of his thrillers out of Bucks County including Signs (2002), Lady in the Water (2006), and The Happening (2008). David W. Heckler is the 2014 Bucks County District Attorney. Heckler was elected to the position of District Attorney in 2010 after he left the Bench, to which he was elected Judge of the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas in 1997, and served as President Judge of the Court from 2004 to 2008.

Heckler started his career in the District Attorney's office working as the Assistant District Attorney in Bucks County from 1972 until 1979. From 1979 to 1986 Heckler served as an advisor and educator to all of Pennsylvania's District Attorneys before leaving to serve in the Pennsylvania General Assembly from 1986 to 1997.

Heckler's academic achievements are as impressive as his resume. He received his bachelor's degree from Yale University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.
